Guidance Requested - Pool Filled Up

Hello,

So I had a pool that was getting short on space (like half TB or so left) and I enabled windows to backup, and between that and another person in house, pool got filled up. I have new drives on the way... but, I'm concerned that I need to do something here now.

I'm trying to delete things to make more space. Deletes going slow on directories.

I figure I should turn off snapshots to stop writes.

Is there any issue with deleting a bunch of stuff right now?

If you can, no there is no issue. With a completely full pool you'll likely not be able to do that and may have to try and truncate some files to get your pool functional again.

Thank you for your reply.

I have managed to delete files. At least it appears so. Under storage, volumes, parent says 96%. But all the datasets within say 100% and 0 available. In windows also says 0 available.

I just ordered 2 more drives which amazon says will be here today since I can't wait till other drives get here. Hopefully I'll be able to get those in and copy everything over.

2 Questions:

- How do I get FN to refresh available space or how do I view what is actually available?
- Is there any risk in shutting server down to add drives and start back up with the current full situation? Should I try to copy some of the files I don't yet have backed up to another local drive?
