I am a newbie in Truenas. Just put together a server using the following:

Supermicro X8DTL-if
2x Xeon X5675
32 GB Dimm ECC supermicro
2x patriot p310 128gb for boot
2x Kingston DC500M for data

It is a pretty powerful system for its age, which was working just fine under Windows. I am using the onboard NIC of the Supermicro.

Installing TrueNAS has been quick and easy. After installation it shows up with a correct IP address, the right DNS, gateway and network.

HOWEVER… I cannot connect to the web interface, and it does not respond to ping from any other computer.

Very weird, I have been back and forth trying to find the issue but I can’t. Everything seems to be ok but I get only the console and that’s it.

Can anyone help?

From the shell on your NAS, can you ping your router? Another computer? Google?
Solved !!!

I could ping Google and the router but not my laptop, connected to a different port of the router.

So I set up a switch, connected TrueNAS and laptop to the switch, put static addresses in both, and the UI finally showed up.
No alerts, all working. Onboard NICs of the X8DTL-IF are Intel 82574L, TrueNAS detect and use them just fine.

My fiber router (Huawei EG series) apparently creates an isolated LAN per port,
so WIFI was on one port, separated from the NAS in another port.

Thanks very much, your ping advice definitely pointed me in the right direction.
