Good morning

I have this problem:
HP n40l with 4x1tb.
pfsense dhcp server (192.168.1.1)
TrueNAS CORE 12.0-U3.1 installation ok
I have to configure the network with static ip
I followed these steps

I see the IP listed on the main menu page (192.168.1.251/24) but the ip from my pc not ping
I tried from the console to ping my gateway but I can't
ifconfig confirms to me that ip and netmask are correct
the blink led on both the switch and nic is correct

ideas?

thx

  • Can you access the TrueNAS GUI?
  • What is the IP address of the PC? Is it on the same subnet as the NAS?
  • Can you ping the NAS from the ping tool in pf?

Not being able to ping from pfSense means that the NAS is not connected to the network, or you have made a configuration error.

My recommendation is to put the NAS into DHCP, obtain an IP from pf, and try again with the ip that is assigned from pf.

Be sure the DHCP service is running on the subnet in pf to support this troubleshooting.

dhcp server is ok

i formatted the usb stick and completely reinstalled truenas without changing anything else and magically it works correctly, both in dhcp and the static ip
