Hi All,

New to FreeNAS and Linux style permissions, so this is probably a really n00b question, and hopefully I am posting this in the right forum area.

Anyways on to the issue: I have a FreeNAS which I am using as an FTP store for backup images.
I have created a ZFS volume to store the images and some users.
Every user has the home directory set for FTP login, so they login and are taken to their home directory. Each user has a group of the same name and members of that group are the user, ftp, root and FTPAdmin.
The images get uploaded every night and this is progressing as intended.
However every day I ran an MD5 check against the images to ensure they transferred without corruption. The user who does this is FTPAdmin
I thought by having this user a member of the group it would allow him to see the images, but this doesn't seem to be the case. I have to chmod all the files to 777 from 770.
I am sure I am missing something very simple, but I am not sure what...

Any assistance gratefully accepted.
Regards,

Jim
