Isn't iSCSI a block device and thus only accessible from one machine at a time anyway? What you are describing sounds like taking a SATA hdd and connecting it to 3 PC's at the same time and yes only 1 PC can write while the other 2 can read...

PS. I am fairly new to iSCSI myself so I hope somebody else here will be able to provide more info as this is an interesting question/solution.

More than one device having direct access to a block device is a recipe for disaster.

I remember spending a week or so in my OS class on this. Something with a valley with some trains and flags or something... I think I got a B+

but isn't that exactly how VMware et/all work. more than one ESXi machine will access the same iSCSI device to load the LUNS/Datastores?

Hi Milkwerm,

Yes, that is what ESX\ESXi and such do, the difference is that those OS's are cluster-aware, meaning they have software that manages what and when the cluster members can read or write to the volume.

shinchih2001, what you want to do is copy your data over to somewhere you can make a CIFS share and present your WOW install that way. You can use individual users to control who can read and write to the share.
