Hi all,
i had my nas running smoothly for a while without any problem, but today i noticed i kept getting this message the whole day:

"freenas upsmon[2381]: Poll UPS failed - Data stale"

it seems like the nas could not connect to the ups even if the service was on.
I checked the cables but i kept getting the message, now i rebooted and seems that is over...at least for now...
Anybody with an idea of the meaning of that message?
THANKS

Have you changed anything on the system recently? Did you recently add jails?

you should supply more info.
UPS model, USB or Serial
Freenas Version
Hardware spec, motherboard model

There are bugs around this log message and you can make it go away my modifying the MAXAGE to be >=20 in the upsd.conf. This modification isn't a solution, it is just a work around for now.

my specs are in my signature:
FreeNas 9.2.1.5 64bit
MOBO: Asrock mini-itx E3C226D2I
CPU: Intel Core i3-4130
HDD: 5x 3TB WD30EFRX RED (RAIDZ2 setup)
RAM: 1x8GB kingston KVR16LE11L/8 ECC 1,35v
CASE: Fractal Design Node 304 Black MINI-ITX
PSU: Seasonic G-360 80 Plus Gold
UPS: Riello iDialog IDG800 (usb)

so you suggest to see what value i have and increase it? but why it started to happen just now? that's something i can't understand!

After a few hours of uptime I get the following error every hour or so:

upsmon[2524]: Poll UPS [ups] failed - Data stale

“ups” is the name of my UPS.

When switching to battery power, after the specified number of minutes (300 in my case) passes I get the following message:

Executing automatic power-fail shutdown

And then the system sits like that for five minutes or so, after which it starts shutting down.

FreeNAS-9.2.1.6-RELEASE-x64, Intel i3-4350, 16GB ECC memory

UPS: CyberPower 1500PFCLCD

I tried switching from USB to COM port, but serial communication does not work at all, I get the following error.

upsmon[15087]: UPS [ups]: connect failed: Connection failure: Connection refused

For what I understood, that time "sitting" is because it's designed the srevice to work, in other words, the amount of time should be set considering that the system first wait XX seconds to start the shutdown service procedure, and after other XX seconds the system shutdown itself, so u have to consider it's doubled!

There is a thread here regarding increasing poll interval related to cyber power ups.. I believe it only affects the 1000ca and above as my 850 has been rock solid..

Poll interval isn't the problem in that other thread. It is maxage and I also have a suspicion that the hid-ups driver is broken in some little way and doesn't like certain manufactures USB setups
