Hey everyone, i recently updated my FreeNAS server to the latest stable FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201506292130 , since i updated i hadnt received an email update from the server, i looked into it today and it turns out it removed the nameservers i had specified, at first i thought it was a login issue, but when it all checked out i went looking in the network settings and tried to ping google.com from the shell and it wasnt reachable.

So all in all,not sure if its a bug, or if for some reason it got wiped on the update.

Well this is easily solved. Go in to the Network tab, and for nameserver 1 (and 2 and 3 if you like), put in a nameserver. If you don't know of a good one, just use Google's. It's 8.8.8.8.

I like using OpenDNS. In a search a year or so ago their addresses came back as being less busy than Google.

OpenDNS IP Addresses
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

You can ping Google and OpenDNS to see which is faster for you.

That is exactly what i did, i just couldnt figure out how it got wiped in the first place...beause like all my servers, it has a static IP address set, with a DNS and everything of course...but hey all well.
