Hi All,
I've been having this issue since day 1 of my FreeNAS. Everytime I do an updated i.e. from U3 to U4 my system does not reboot automatically. So I had to do a hard reset to my PC by pressing the power button for 10 secs. After that it works fine. I don't mind doing it but seems kind of annoying. Any idea how can I troubleshoot it?

Hardware is on my signature. I am currently running FreeNAS 11.2 U7

Thank you.

To clarify the situation. very time I update my FreeNAS it goes throud the download and isntalltion process. once finished it re-starts the system. everithing is powered on but not responsive. the screen is completely black. this is when I had to do a hard reset and then it works fine.

I swapped motherboard CPU and RAM and the issue still persists.

Suggest try a fresh install to a different boot device & restore config. I run my servers headless & have seen this intermittently (since they are headless, I don't know what a screen would show when the update hangs). Since, as I understand it, an update 1) creates a new boot partition, 2) reboots into it, 3) imports/restores config, then 4) reboots into the new updated boot partition, then if the system hangs in any of the above steps, a hard reset may let the process go to completion. Hope this helps.
