I am tired as usual at this time of the day so I am having a hard time finding documentation about Centralized Monitoring for FreeNAS.

FreeNAS comes with beautiful local monitoring system but if one has many FreeNAS boxes centralized monitoring is must. It appears that my options are using SNMP and S.M.A.R.T. log files/e-mails. How would I monitor my box let say using Monit and Munin for example? These are two tools that I like. I understand that I can install them in the Jail but I have no intension monitor Jail pseudo system. I really want to monitor FreeNAS box (CPU, Memory and usual things).

from the jail you have access to freenas core subsystem.

You can run a monitoring system and get access to memory, cpu, temps, etc.. from a jail. I am doing it.

Can you be little bit more specific about this. I just started monit and appears to be monitoring jail o_O

Well you might need to hack monit a bit.

I use sysctl.

All of the information outputted from sysctl -a
is from freenas subsystem and not from the jail.

Jails are not their own OS like a virtual. They are chrooted env.

Regards.
