Apologies in advance for the vagueness of this issue. I have been tearing my hair out trying to find the root cause but I am still very new to FreeNAS.
I have been running my first FreeNAS box (hardware below) for a few months.
Nearly every day since it has been online it will crash/lose connection to everything and it requires a hard reboot to get working again. No SSH access, no web GUI access, no error in messages (/var/log/messages). Hard reboot at the box and everything runs fine for another day or two. The longest it has gone without needing a hard reboot is ~3 days. This will happen while Plex is playing a file, when it's been sitting idle for several hours. There doesn't seem to be a correlation.

Things I've tried:
- Combing through /var/log/messages but there's never an error (To be fair, I'm not sure if I'm looking in the right place)
- I have poked through various /var/log/ folders but unsure if there's somewhere specific that would tell me
- Have downloaded a couple debug logs but same story
- Editing bios settings to remove any power saving features
- Realtek NIC
- This mobo has a realtek NIC which I've come to read is not recommended
- Only one PCI-e slot which I use for the video card. Is it possible to remove this video card and swap for an external NIC if I sacrifice monitor output after install?
- I wanted to try and determine a root error cause before buying a new mobo
