Free Nas on MicroServer with RDX?

Hi, Im a New person to free-nas, I have a HP Microserver which has windows 7 on it. Im going to be using it for UNI in September. I wanted to question a few things before trying a copy on my server. Firstly, is RDX Drives compatible with Freenas?. I have a Scsi card in the expansion slot and wondered if a Tape drive would also work with FreeNas?

I'm hoping to use the server for backup and storage at uni, Does the Computer just see Freenas as a normal Network drive?

I would be most grateful of any advice or information.
