I bought an IBM ServeRAID M1015 (LSI SAS9220-8i) and I plan on connecting it to the SATA backplane in my SilverStone DS380. The question is, do I need a forward or reverse cable? I though I saw somewhere on here that I need a reverse cable but then I saw something else that said that's only for directly connecting to a motherboard. Is this what I need?

I'm also looking for a very short cable since the space in my case is very limited, but most of what I can find is 19", I found one that was 9" but that's still pretty long. Does anyone know of 4 or 6 inch cables?

Forward.

Forward breakout cables break a Host-side SFF-8087 connector into four device-side SATA connector.
Reverse breakout cables group four Host-side SATA ports into a device-side SFF-8087 connector.
