Hello. Hopefully someone on here can help me. I'm a little new to FreeNAS.
I have a zpool set up between four 1 TB hard disks in a RAIDZ2. Currently there is only 2 GB of RAM in the unit running FreeNAS 8.3.0-RELEASE-p1
The machine runs fine (for the most part) I'm able to log in. I've created some datasets and set up the permissions how I like them. The only issue, and the reason for this post, is that when I move large files to the shared pool I get the following message in windows..."There is a problem accessing Z:/[directory]/[directory]/ Make sure you are connected to the network and try again." Then I have the options "Retry", "Skip", and "Cancel" Retry does nothing except bring up the same error a second time.
I get the above error after different periods of time and at different percentages of the transfer (one time it was like 98% finished transferring). Sometimes, but not very often, I am able to transfer the files successfully after a few tries. I am told that other people are also getting this error on their Mac computers as well. Transferring or saving smaller files works fine.
Also know that when I log into the GUI, I see these in the console:
Mar 19 00:27:04 freenas smartd[5327]: Device: /dev/ada0, 756 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors
Mar 19 00:27:04 freenas smartd[5327]: Device: /dev/ada0, 1 Offline uncorrectable sectors
Mar 19 00:27:04 freenas smartd[5327]: Device: /dev/ada2, 3 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors
We are about to upgrade to better hardware and more RAM but I'm just wondering what the issue is.
