[EFAULT] Failed to send email: [Errno 8] hostname nor servname provided, or not known

I'm trying to setup email but no matter what I do I get [EFAULT] Failed to send email: [Errno 8] hostname nor servname provided, or not known

I have tried both my hotmail and gmail accounts but get the same message.

I do not have 2 factor security on these accounts

I have tried using both root@freenas.local as well as my email addresses for the From email but there is no difference.

I have entered my email address in the root user

In Shell (which I know nothing about!) I can ping my router but cant ping www.google.com but not understanding Shell I might have the syntax or any number of other things wrong!

You need to set a correct default gateway and a valid nameserver, both should probably be the IP address of you router.

Many thanks, that opened up the network, then 2 hours fighting with Hotmail & Gmail to get past their security!
