Do you need new dataset for multiple TimeMachine backups ?

New user, I currently have timemachine backup setup, but I have more that one mac's at home, do I need to create a new dataset for each backup or I can use the original one I created ? TIA

If you selected the profile (Multi-User Time Machine) when creating the share, you should be able to use that same share for multiple apple devices.

thanks !! if you could point me in the right direction, I checked and couldn't find that option....

It's labeled Purpose (not profile as I said above).

Unless you're using very old versions of macOS, you really shouldn't be using AFP for Time Machine shares (or anything else, really).

wow thanks ! that was a lot easier than I expected, i even was able to swap my afp homeshare to smb !!
