Do I put the Automatic Ripping Machine in a Jail?

I want to take a crack at automating the ripping of my DVD's. Do I start by creating a jail and then SSH into it so that I can execute linux like commands? Will that run like a VM? I've seen some stuff about the Automatic Ripping Machine, but I haven't really found any step by step process.
