Yesterday I installed Freenas 11.3 U2 and got major problems with network and plugins who didnt install du to DNS problems.
Today I did a fresh install of Freenas 11.1 U7 because this was the last stable version before trying the later versions.
I also did a upgrade from 11.1 to 11.3 from GUI tonight, with the same result = SHIT!

I also got some diffrent errors switching from dhcp and nat when trying to install plugins.

I also got an error about not knowing default NIC, i have 2 igb0 and igb1

It doesnt make any differens if I go for static och dhcp on the server either.

Seems like Im not able to run 11.3 U2 on my sytstem

Can someone please be so kind and help out, this is getting very frustrating!

I used to have the similar c2750d4i - let's see if my experience with it "translates".

First off, I assume that you have only one network cable plugged in to the ports on the back of the board, and the port you are using in one of the two that are paired vertically, nit the one that is above the two usb ports.

Then I would change nameserver 1 to your gateway address and move the name servers you have (that I saw you report finding in your posts last week) to 2 and 3.

I take it that you have igb0 set for static 192.168.0.200/24 - yes?

Yes I’m using one of the 2, not the IPMI port.

Yes igb0 is set to static.

tried changing name server 1 to 192.68.0.1 without luck unfortunately.

get the same error when trying to install a plugin:

failure Exception: RuntimeError Message: No default interface found Partial plugin destroyed

Can you ping out from the shell to say google.com? 8.8.4.4?

you say you see that same error when installing a plug in.

When else do you see it?

When you installed FreeNAS did you choose UEFI or legacy boot? If UEFI, try an install in Legacy mode, please.

Error is diffrent if I choose NAT or DHCP, either I get "DNS problems" or "no default interface"

Yes I can ping both google.com and 8.8.4.4 with default gateway as 192.168.0.1 and name server 1 & 2

I dont know if I installed in legacy or UEFI, just went to the update tab and choosed 11.3 U2 and hit install.
Where can I choose between legacy and UEFI?

Code:

Please post a screenshot of the Network/interfaces/Edit page for igb0 - like this one

To Legacy boot you would have to choose at install when creating a new boot drive.

But this is an upgrade from a previous version that did not have problems?

Yes this was a upgrade from 11.1 U7 that worked with these settings.

OK, so far all this looks logical.

Is your router set up to act as a DHCP server?

What plugin(s) are you trying to install?

Router is set up to act DHCP sever with pool from 10 to 140

Transmission and emby

Maybe have to install 11.1 once more and then make a flashdrive with 11.3 and legacy install it

DHCP server sounds OK.

I don't use plugins and thus know nothing about them. I only use jails. Not much more I can help with here I don't think.

Have you thought about trying to install one or both in a jail (much preferable IMO)?

Installing thru plugins install them in a jail?
Not so familiar with Linux or FreeNAS but if you can explain how to I guess I could try.

still think this error is weird, think I had 11.2 as well with no network problems.

Yes, error is weird...

Go to Resources section for https://www.ixsystems.com/community...darr-lidarr-jackett-transmission-organizr.58/

For emby and others, see https://www.ixsystems.com/community...sabnzbd-emby-working-in-an-iocage-jail.75812/ less details here but once you've made a j jail, use pkg install. Look at Fresh Ports to find out the name of the pkg - looks like pkg install emby-server https://www.freshports.org/multimedia/emby-server/

I would keep down loader transmission in a separate jail from media player emby, personally, but that's just me.

You'll find these jails are easier to maintain than plug-ins - keep the data store separate on your main pool than you can update the pkg in the jail anytime without screwing up the app.

Thx

FYI

I now tried everyting, upgrading from GUI, Flashdisk etc.

Nothing works properly, neither 11.2 U8 or 11.3 U2

Only thing that works is 11.1 U7
