Very new to TrueNas, I have managed to install it and get to the web interface, however whenever I try to put in an HDD into the hot-swap bays nothing shows up under disks, and I am not sure why they wouldn't, I just wanted to make sure I can see the drive from each of the trays before I start making any pools. but thus far I'm not seeing anything.

My setup:
- RROYJJ 4U Rackmount Server Case Chassis with 24 Hot-Swappable SATA/SAS Drive Bays
- LRSACX36 24 port 12 G SAS expander card
- EVGA x58 SLI3 motherboard
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz
- 24GB RAM

Any pointer/direction would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

With one or more drives in the bays, from the shell run camcontrol devlist and report the output here.

i should mention that both the samsung and the WD blue are connected directly to the motherboard via SATA cables and not through the back plane.

Well, points to a backplane or expander card issue by the sound of things I guess.
