Hi

Ignored my freenas box for too long and it's got in a mess

I can understand how to offline and replace the disks that are there. But ada 2 is showing as removed.

How do I replace and resilver a disk that appears to have been removed?

This NAS has data on it.

I'm going to replace all the disks one at a time.

Cheers

Kevin

Please post console and log data using

I strongly recommend you back up your data before attempting any drive replacement!!!!
How do I replace and resilver a disk that appears to have been removed?

The FreeNAS manual has steps outlined for this task. Keep in mind you never said which version of FreeNAS you are using so I have
given a link to the 9.10 doc
http://doc.freenas.org/9.10/storage.html#replacing-a-failed-drive[/CODE]

Hi Thanks for such a quick reply

it's

FreeNAS-9.10.2-U1 (86c7ef5)

The thing I'm confused/worried about is the disk isn't listed in the GUI .
If I physically replace the failed one in the bay will it then recognise this needs to replace ada2? Or do I add a 'new' disk to the volume set?

Thanks again

No, No, No, do not use the volume manager!!!
Are you familiar with the use of the Secure Shell, better known as SSH?
If you are, please post in code tags the results of the command:
