Different console mode?

I'd like to run the freeness console at 80x50 or 80x60 mode, AFAIK the video chip in the server supports it and so does FreeBSD, However a "vidcontrol -i mode" returns:

Nope, otherwise I’d have posted it here. I did myself going down the road of what had been stripped out of the kernel console driver and gave up there. More schizophrenic “FreeNAS is an Appliance” stuff I presumed.

I didn't post on this because you said not to. I tried to change this myself a while back but the problem I had was that FreeNAS resets the config at every reboot. Any change I made didn't survive and that is something that the developers of FreeNAS have done. Perhaps in an effort to ensure the broadest compatibility with hardware? I spent days on it and things that should have worked didn't. I know why I wanted it and you probably want it for a similar reason. It would be nice to be able to change the console resolution. Maybe you should put in a feature request.
