I have installed and configured DenyHosts on FreeNAS 8.0.2 (release build), and it is fully functioning except for the email report function. This seems to be using SMTP (i.e. tcp port 25) directly instead of just calling sendmail, and therefore fails as nothing is listening locally on port 25.
Using sendmail from the command line to send to root works, and I receive the email in my gmail account as configured through the FreeNAS GUI. It doesn't look feasible to get Denyhosts to send directly to smtp.gmail.com either as that requires TLS.
Any ideas to get DenyHosts email reports working?
