I'm in the process of building a Dell R710 to run FreeNAS. This will replace a QNAP TS-239 Pro II that has served me well.

Dell R710 Gen 1
Dual Xeon L-5640's
24GB ECC Ram
LSI SAS 9200-8i in IT mode as HBA
6x Dell HGST (Hitachi) 7200 RPM 3TB drives in ZF2 Array. (10TB usable)
Boot drive is a 120GB Transcend SSD in a DVD/SSD Caddy on Sata 0
Network is configured in LAGG with 2 of the 4 ports connected.
I also have the iDRAC Enterprise setup for remote management if I ever need it.
Dual power supplies, but only one is powered at the moment. Need to add a second UPS in my data closet before I will power the second supply. IMHO not much point in redundant power supplies on the same circuit/UPS.

So far I've done a burn in for a week with half of my drives and copied my full dataset (about 5TB) over. 3 of the drives from ebay showed up and wouldn't mount so I sent them back. Kept saying "not ready."

Are there any hardware issues that I might have missed?

I have read the documentation, guides, and watched several videos prior to building the system. I tried to choose my components based on the docs and guides.

I use this system to archive my photography and videography raw footage.

Only issue I'm having at the moment involves Windows Share permissions, but that's not hardware related.
