deleted files in root directory

i accidentally deleted files from the root directory of the USB stick now I cannot access the web GUI or SSH into my FreeNAS how would I go about fixing this without losing any of the information on the hard drives in my server.

Reinstall to the stick (the OS is separate from the data stored on the hard drives).

thanks that is what i thought would be my best course of action thanks for confirming my thoughts

If you have a previous boot environment, you could boot to that, then make it the primary and re-update.

A new boot environment is created each time you update.
