da0 (USB Flash) configuration odd in View Disks

I noticed this odd setup when I installed 8.3.0-Release for my USB Flash Drive that I use for scripts and other stuff. I haven't seen it mentioned here before so I don't know if this was something unique to my installation. The drive is UFS format and the odd configuration is the default setup for da0...

HDD Standby: 30
Adv Pwr Man: 127
Enable SMART: checked

It just strikes me as odd that HDD Standby and Adv Pwr Man would be set to anything other than Always On and Disabled, respectively.

So my question really is, is there a reason for this setup for a USB Flash drive? Should it be set otherwise?

I could be mistaken, but aren't those parameters stored on the hard drive itself? I mean if I setup standby and power management and then take the drive to another machine don't those settings remain until overwritten by another setting change?

I seem to remember years ago there was fishy stuff going on with standby and power management options. Don't remember much because I just set mine to "always on" and "disabled" and I was done with it.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, thought I had.

The settings do not become part of the drive. Way back when there were some drives which you could make changes via normally a special utility from the drive manufacturer which could make certain changes. That was a long time ago and drives typically do not have those type of changeable parameters these days, but I think there are some changes like timeouts (TLER).

As for this particular USB flash drive, it was set in 8.0.4 to be always on (standard defaults) but when I used it for 8.3.0-Refresh I had noticed it changed. Weird is all I can say but I am just curious if this is the default setting for any USB drive now installed, was it intentional or accidental. Guess I'll have to play around a bit more, I have more USB flash drives I can chuck at the machine. Guess I could post my results as well.

EDIT: Looks like if you had something set in the configuration of FreeNAS for a drive designation (da0, da1, ada0... ) that even if you got rid of it in the past, the configuration remembers it so the only think I can think of is when I had my USB 500GB hard drive connected I may have changed those parameters. So I must have set it.
