crossflashing M1015 to 9220 IT mode

I'm trying to crossflash the M1015 I just picked up so I can use it in my FreeNAS box, but I'm getting a "Failed to initialize PAL. Exiting Program" Error. Both of the systems in my place give me the same error when I try tot crossflash due to the motherboards. I read that you can crossflash using EFI. But I'm really confused how to set up the flash drive for EFI and how to finish the execution of the flash. I managed so far to get to the cleanflash, but I wasn't able to actually flash on the new firmware.

How do I set up the flash drive EFI boot and finish the flash?

You format it with FAT32 and throw in the files you need. If your motherboard's firmware was assembled by idiots and doesn't include an EFI shell, add your own EFI shell executable.
