Hello All,

I'm very new at all of this, please don't beat me up that much.

I did an upgrade for the 9.10 stable, after the upgrade I got the message in the subject. Restarting didn't work, shutting down didn't work, shutting down and physically disconnecting/reconnecting didn't work. Finally, I physically disconnected the drive, deleted the share and data-set (I did NOT select the option to delete data). So, I tried as the manual stated on importing a drive and volume. That was a couple days ago, at first I selected the import drive and it gave me the progress status bar for a whole 24 hours, is this normal for it take forever, the drive works and is healthy, I can see the drive. Since, I'm new I hadn't got around to creating a back up (I know).

1. How to import drive without erasing the data that is currently on it?
2. If I can't, how do I retrieve the data from the data from drive?
3. What information do all need to better assist me?

Thanks in advance, I admit I'm no expert but am willing to learn!!!

Sounds like you already told it to delete the information... I personally don't think that it is possible since technically there is not any data.

I guess we really need to know how your Pool(s) were configured? If it was a Mirror, then maybe...

If someone can help me out it would be appreciated very much!!!

As you see in the image below, "Church_Videos_3" is showing in the "zpool list" but won't mount?

1. How to import drive without erasing the data that is currently on it?
2. If I can't, how do I retrieve the data from the drive (copy it from this drive to say "Church_Videos"?

How about for "Volume_1"; apologies I misread your earlier post and thought that the files/folders you were seeking were under "Church_Videos"; but now believe that they are under "Volume_1"...

So the command would be: ls /mnt/Volume_1

Check there and see if that is where your missing files/folders are from the "data from the data from drive"...

Mirfster,

This is the drive that I'm trying/requesting help:

As you can see, it's in the zpool list, it still has the data on it, but it won't mount???

Can you run 'zpool import'? This will show you the pools that are possible to import. You should also post your smart data for the drives that are part of that pool. This problem isn't related to the upgrade, it happened because something was broken already and you didn't notice until after the system rebooted.

One question that you haven't answered, was how your pools were configured. Mirrored, some form of RAIDzX, or just a single drive (without any redundacy). For example, if the latter, was Church_Videos_3 on a single drive?

gpsguy,

I apologize for missing this question, it was is on a single drive, I was waiting for an additional drive to arrive in the mail to setup mirror.

I'd need to double check, but I think if you "zpool export" the pool in the cli, then you can import it in the gui.

Try

% zpool export Church_Videos_3

If that hangs, it's a problem. I'd try waiting for it to finish.

Assuming it does finish, you now go into the GUI and import the pool.
