Import of NTFS drive failed, drive is no longer detected

I have a 2TB hard drive that I pulled out of my WHS2011 computer for my NAS build. It had some data on it(10-20GB) and I wanted to import it to my NAS build. From the GUI I went to Import Disk and found the disk I wanted to transfer (NTFS) from and pointed it to the disk I wanted it to go to (1TB drive). The import started and went for a good while (20-30 minutes maybe?) before it gave me an error that the import failed. Unfortunately, I didn't think it was anything major so I didn't jot down the error message so I don't have anything to go off of, sorry. I put this aside and came back to it the next day to investigate. The drive is no longer visible and I've tried hooking it up to another computer internally and also tried hooking it up to a USB to SATA cable and nothing. From the looks of things the drive is dead. Is this the case and if so is there anything that can be done to possibly retrieve the information on the HDD?

Appreciate the help.

Were you able to resolve this? If not, which version of FreeNAS?

I wouldn't exactly say I resolved it, but I ended up buying a hard drive docking station and was able to move the data that was on it to another drive. I took the drive I had issues with and put it into another computer as a slave and was able to format it and it works fine in another build. Not sure what was causing it to not be readable by any of my other computers, I guess it just needed a timeout to gather itself before it wanted to start working again. I'm now having issues with just getting bootable FreeNAS USB to work so I can install FreeNAS again.

Thanks for checking in on this issue, sorry I can't provide a solution to why or how.

AFAIK you can import ONLY HDD with ZFS on it, like from another FreeNAS sistem.
So no drives with NTFS!

Upss! My bad.
The GUIDE says you can.
