Hi all,

I had purchased a supermicro x10slm-f which uses the intel 210at and 217 NIC which is not supported by freenas 8.3 and the 210at is supported by 9.1beta.

However, i am keen on trying to load the drivers for the NIC in 8.3 as i am not very keen to run in a beta environment.

Intel actually has drivers for them for FreeBSD so i believe there could be a way to compile them and load it into the kernel

I cannot seem to find any documentation on how to actually work with these drivers anywhere. If there is anybody with the knowledge of how to do it and could share it here i will greatly appreciate it!

I'd put a ticket in at support.freenas.org and request the drivers be added.

What you need to do is either compile the driver on FreeBSD 8.3 and copy it to FreeNAS or recompile FreeNAS with the new driver code provided. Neither are trivial, and judging from the fact that you are asking that question, you probably should put a ticket in and just wait for it to be closed.
