Something happened to my pool that I'm now unable to remove a ZIL vdev from it:

[root@nas1-ny] ~# zpool status

Rebooting the server didn't help.

Don't know what else to do, as I need to replace the ZIL drive :(

Could you post the version of FreeNAS you are running and what version is your pool. Have you consulted the user guide about the ZIL replacement and verifying your pool version?

Why do you need to replace the ZIL, not that its any of my business.

EDIT: I moved this thread to a more appropriate location.

Maybe this is stupid. Because of how strange this is, I began wondering if this were a command-line parsing problem.

"zpool export" is actually also a command. The OP has (extremely stupidly) named his pool "export". Is there a possibility that the unfortunate name he chose for the zpool is causing some confusion when the zpool command gets parsed?

That could be an issue. But couldn't the OP simply shut down the server, replace the ZIL drive(s), and boot up, then using the GUI add the new ZIL and maybe remove the old ZIL? If the old ZIL cannot be removed, is there any real downside other than it doesn't look clean?

I was hesitant to suggest that since I don't know exactly how the Intention Log works. Is it, in fact, fully purged and written to the pool upon a shutdown?

Well it depends on his pool version which is why I asked for it. Currently it looks like his ZIL is online which is why I asked the reason for replacing it.

Also, I should ask him/her how much RAM is in the machine, you know how some people think a ZIL is the cure all to make a system faster. Given the number of hard drives listed, I'm not certain a ZIL is useful and then it should be in a pair of ZIL drives anyway.
