Hi,

My freenas server is on 192.168.1.6 and ive created a SMB share with the name 'SHARE'. Default options but checked allow gues access.

When I try and map the network drive in windows I get a 'cannot access' error (the network path was not found).

I can ping the server and verified that smb is running (guest account is using nobody group).

I've tried connecting with root and with a seperate account that is a member of the nobody group. Also enabled the insecure share access GPO, but still no luck.

Any ideas?

Fixed by creating a new group and user, then changed the permissions on the volume (not share) to have the newly created group as the group owner and 'nobody' as user owner. McNeil sure you choose Windows permissions when creating the volume.
