The screenshot you posted...
At the A: prompt, you typed: megarec.exe
this is incorrect
I tried it several ways... sorry for the confusion. After it failed a couple of times, I tried it with all caps and then I tired it with the .exe.
I didn't want to get on here complaining and pissing people off again because I didn't try something...

I assure you no one is pissed off.
You must type exactly the command as given in the text doc I sent.
spaces and characters case is important.
Try it one more time and post another screenshot of the error please

Why use megarec.exe instead of sas2flsh (sas2flash) to erase?

sas2flsh -o -e 6 or sas2flsh -o -e 7

sas2flsh wasn't erasing, so BigDave suggested megarec.exe
Worked perfect with no errors/problems!

I guess your right. I reread what I did, I used the command “sas2flash -o -f 2118it.bin -b mptsas2.rom”...
I am not sure anyone told me about the sas2flsh -o -e 6 or sas2flsh -o -e 7 commands.

@BamBamm, I am not expecting you to provide the right answer :D

I am just hoping that answers to my query might help those who would like to use (and due to their configuration can!) sas2flash that comes with FreeNAS. It sounds like a simpler option ;-)

I was inside Windows 7, not FreeNAS...

@solarisguy The reason we didn't do it your way was just due to limited knowledge on my part (I was using what I knew),
BamBamm already began with the DOS method when he made his first post, we just stuck with that to avoid confusion.
There's more than one way to skin a cat and we took the longer road for sure ;)
My question is... where the heck were you yesterday :p

@BigDave, laziness my friend, laziness... Each time I need to copy only one file instead of two, I have more time for pleasures :D

And on Sunday, I was just being lazy :D

I had a 9211-8i that was shipped with v 18IR firmware. I thrashed around a lot, trying to follow many different paths to IT FW. sas2flash from freedos, freenas and eufi kept throwing an error about firmware not having the correct checksum ( an obviuos paraphrase).

It would not erase "sas2flash -c 0 -o -e 6 " or "sas2flash -c 0 -o -e 7"

finally I used :
  1. megarec -writesbr 0 sbrempty.bin
  2. megarec -cleanflash 0
Which did indeed wipe the card, but sas2flash would not write to the card.....
I booted, it showed no sign of the card at the boot .... I bricked ... my card .... horror
Just for grins I ran "sas2flash -listall"

It found my card and offered to download a firmware for me.
I then "sas2flash -b mptsas2.rom" ( which had always worked, but still there was no boot rom after MegaRec wrecked my card for me"
now the card works great

I was then able to perform the same procedure on a 9240 I had laying around

I found the above thread to be most useful, and the zip file with megarec convenient.
