I followed the instructions on this post completely.
I put all three files into a single folder on drive c: as stated. I ran CMD.EXE as Administrator.
I used the command “sas2flash -o -f 2118it.bin -b mptsas2.rom”, and yet I get the error "Cannot Flash IT Firmware over IR Firmware"...

You must use the LSI Megarec.exe to first wipe the existing firmware,
I assume your try to crossflash a m1015 card?

The megarec exe file needs to be on the drive and iirc
the command is <megarec -cleanflash 0>
OR perhaps it's <megarec -writesbr 0 sbrempty.bin>
I can't remember exactly, but you have to wipe the IR firmware BEFORE you change over
to IT and flash the new bin file...

Stand by and I'll try and find the servethehome.com link for you...

Great, now I don't want to do anything.
I don't have a clue as to what I am doing!

I felt exactly like you when attempting my first crossflash of an add-in card, freaked out and clueless.
Don't worry, just soak up specific info on your board, and things will be fine. Someone has done this
before and with patience you can do it too!

I'm assuming you are still not comfortable?

I almost feel like the first time I tried to get laid...

Thanks for the help, I need it!

This is an on-board controller. SM X8DTH-6F...
according to the link you provided for your board, it has a LSI 2008 8-Port 6Gb/s SAS Controller! This is the same chipset
as my RAID card (IBM m1015)!!! :D

Start reading this thread here

While you read, keep in mind your onboard controller is the same (2008 chipset) as my card.
I will go digging for my old files I saved when I first flashed my card and we will be on the way.
