I am having an issue with accessing my server on 2 of my 5 computers in the home. I can access the server on these 2 computers by using run and entering \\192.168.0.100 but cannot see or get to the server thru netowk (what used to be network neighborhood back in the day). I have even tried opening the firewalls on these 2 machines. Any help would be appreciated. I have been trying this for a while now.

This is not really a FreeNAS issue and likely an issue with your computers setup on your network. You didn't give any info on your computers, if you are using CIFS or NFS, etc... Kind of hard to give advice. But I'll make an assumption that you are using a Windoze system and using CIFS. You can access the data, you already said it was there if you manually punch in the IP address. The simple way to fix your issue is to map the devices as drive letters. Do a Google search on "windows map network drive".

NetBIOS is the problem and there's no trivial solution.

Either map the shares like joeschmuck suggested, make links to the shares or get used to typing the IP address.
Of course, you can set up a proper internal DNS environment, but that's more complicated.

Well, I figured it out. The difference between the 2 computers that could not see the server was the node setting. They were set to peer to peer where the working computers were set to hybrid. I had to dive into the registry to change that. Once that was done and a reboot, they are all working beautifully.
