Can replication tasks be "paused"?

Hi all:

Stupid question. I have a replication task going copying between 2 different FreeNAS servers. It will take longer than I expected, and I somehow need to shutdown the "receiver" to move it.

Will the currently running replication task figure out the destination is gone, and be smart enough to pick up where it stopped when the destination server comes back online or will it start from scratch? Or can I manually pause it while I move the destination server?

Thanks!

I vaguely remember some work being done on FreeNAS' side to take advantage of resumable send/recv, but I'm not sure.

ZFS itself can do this, but it has to be specified from the start of the operation, so you'd probably have to try it to find out if the replication was setup as resumable.

Thanks for the reply. I have enough done that I'm not willing to try it just to find out. I guess I'll just bite the bullet and let it finish.

You could pull the Ethernet cable out of the back of the machine to pause the transfer :D:D:D
