Greetings.

I have installed the FREENAS 8.0.4, and am able to configure things through the GUI. I have created 2 separate shares for Windows. When I try to connect to a share, I get the following error.

"The Drive could not be found because no network was found"

I've tried these on 2 separate computers to connect with the same results. I have installed other NAS systems with no problems.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi
I suppose you got the same problem as mine.
First write what kind of share is this - CIFS, AFP or NFS. Second read the first post about writing posts on this forum. More information about your problem sooner might be solved, I guess.

Try to disable CIFS service than enable it, takes about a few seconds and your shares will be visible. After reboot or shutdown you'll have to the same trick.
Looking for a solution why this is happening (weird).

This is a CFIS share. I also created an AFP share and tried to connect from a Mac and did not show up as well.

How do you turn off and turn on the CFIS share?

I followed the instructions on setting up the shares from beginning.

Only using one NIC card, think maybe should have a 2nd?

Thanks.

first whats the IP/(netbios name) address of freenas - can you ping this machine?

Restart CIFS service you can through web GUI (on left side) - SERVICES - CONTROL SERVICES - find CIFS than turn it off / on.
Or you can restart on your freenas machine by executing this command - service samba restart

HI Mati,

Yes I can ping the machine with no problem. I will try the restart the service and see what happens. Would the AFP be affected like the CFIS share is as well?

Thanks

Turning off/on the service did not change. Still not able to connect to a share from with Windows or Mac.

Currently the machine is running on DHCP, would that be the problem.

Thoughts?

Thanks

My solution for this problem is to map a drive by IP address when you setup your share.
My problem with CIFS share is that something's messed up with netbios settings.
