Can install to QNAP TS-1277, but cannot boot afterwards

Hi all,

I'm attempting to install truenas to a QNAP TS-1277 (ryzen 2700, 32gb ddr 4 ram).
The install works fine onto either a single or a couple of samsung evo 860 sata m.2 drives.
But when I reboot, truenas doesnt boot, when I look in the bios, the drive isnt available to boot from.
Any ideas?

unraid installs and works fine, but I'd rather use truenas. raid driver maybe?
