Hi guys

Every time i have to do BIOS settings or other stuff the requires me to see what's going on when booting, i need to use my big old 17" monitor. It's not that I have to do this a lot, but it happens that i need to use it.

I would really like if i could throw it out and just use and external monitor like an iPad? Does anyone know if that's possible. I spend some time Googleing it, but I only get work-arounds with apps required which won't work.

I don't know how user friendly it would be to control from an iPad, but you could use a Lantronix Spider. The Lantronix Spider is an IP KVM, which allows you to control a remote machine using a web browser.

However, given the cost of the Spider, it would probably just be cheaper to buy a motherboard with IPMI.

Yeah, it's only so i can see what's going on when i press a key. It's very very minimal what i would be doing. Mostly just BIOS setup and stuff like that.

Yeah, it's pretty expensive and seems like an overkill for just that purpose. Then i can live with the ugly monitor :)

Go to a few garage sales. You could pick up an older LCD or CRT for almost nothing.
