The FreeNas 8 iscsi targets works fine in my environment. Is that possible to prevent multiple initiator to connect to a target? I can't find any configuration setting in FreeNas.

I have learned that if multiple initiators connect to a read-write target, the target file system may corrupt.

You should be able to set the Initiator to the hostname or IP address of the one system you want to connect. Using CHAP and Mutual CHAP will help prevent this also.

Your propose solution may prevent most situation but not all. I have a situation where I may connect to a iscsi target from different host/initiator one at a time. I may forget disconnect previous initiator before I connect another initiator. In other words, an exclusive access option to a ISCSI target is what I am looking for.
