Hello,

Well, I am a newbie that's for sure. But I finally got things to where I can drag and drop files from my Mac to a share on the NAS server. Hooray! However when I try to save work from and application like Pages, let's say, I run into a wall. I can see my server listed in the standard Save As dialog but when I click on it it says connection failed. When I try to "connect as" using credentials I still get a "connection failed". This is true of any application. Specifically I would like to get Super Duper to save a backup image to the server. Is there some special configuration that I have to set on the server to allow apps to connect?

Thanks,

luciano

Apps should be able to connect in the same manner that you connect. Is this an AFP share or a CIFS share? One other thing you could do to get more information about what is going on is enable the log in the footer of the FreeNAS web GUI, which is an option in the System tab I believe. Then try to save a file from an application like you've been doing, and see if it generates an error.

This is an AFP share.

I did what you suggested and here are the last few lines of the log.

Luciano is the username. That's another funny thing. If I mount a share I can see it and use it in Finder but when I try to login from the app the share dismounts.

Thanks,

Luciano
