Hi there,

I'm looking for some advice on a new build. Currently, I'm running FreeNas 11.3, with Plex, Sab, Radarr/Sonarr, and a few other small things (Tautulli, UnifiController, etc).

My current hardware is an HP z620 with dual Xeon E5 2609's, 48GB ram, and 6 HGST 3TB drives in RAIDz2.

I'd like to build something in a rack mount case that will take up 3-4U. My rack is only 23.5" deep, so I can't go with a full-size server. I don't have any other solid requirements, but I'd like to have the capacity for ~6 3.5" drives (haven't settled on drives yet, right now I'm eyeing a couple of the 16TB EasyStores for $280, and want some room for expansion). I fairly regularly have 6-8 concurrent users streaming from Plex.

I've dug around for a while and wasn't able to find any recent build threads. Can somebody point me in the right direction, or provide a quick list of hardware to get me started?

My budget is flexible, but I'd like to keep it under $600 without drives, if possible.

Thanks!
