Better than FTP, consider using rsync. That's pretty much exactly what rsync is designed for.

Use ZFS replication. Best option using the strength of this system.

Wouldn't that require the offsite PC to be using ZFS? I read the request as "I have a PC elsewhere that I want to back up to a FreeNAS server", not "I have a FreeNAS server that I want to back up to a PC that's offsite". The former should use rsync. The latter should use ZFS replication.
