Hi All,
I'm doing a lab for freenas, I had used the product before for storing files in my home, right now we are doing a test in a Datacenter for a VMware environment, but I'm not sure about what zpool use or what are the best practices, let me specify my current hardware and settings.
Server: PowerEdge R730xd.
Memory: 32GB.
Communication Method: ISCSI Twinax 10GB
15 SSD SATA Capable Speed 6GBPS
2 SAS for OS Raid 1
I have created raidz1 pool, I know this is not good, I found myself across this post https://constantin.glez.de/2010/06/04/a-closer-look-zfs-vdevs-and-performance/ regarding performance I found multiple post regarding mirrored VDEVS but losing 50% doesn't sound good for me, the idea will be the host a citrix environment and I won't put the PVS and databases in the raidz pool I would create mirrored vdevs for them, but for the other servers like frontend and xenapp I would host them in a RAIDZ
Now I don't know if this is a good idea or go directly with the mirrored VDEVS and drop everything else.
Thanks for your help.
