I would like to add an additional drive to my 5 drive dataset. My understanding is I will need to offload all of my data and then recreate the dataset.

Is there any advice on where to offload my data? I have 6.8TB I need to backup. I was considering using Amazon Drive. Any advice.

either this is a backup, in which case just erase it and recreate, or it's the original and you should have a backup, in which case you just erase it and restore from backup.

If you don't have a backup it's time to think about one.

I would buy a 8tb drive and use that. Putting that much data in the cloud is crazy and glacier will be expensive to get back.

A good time to consider one of those Archive HDs?

If you have an ESATA port, then you can regularly replicate to the Archive HD, and run scrubs etc... if it ever errors... you've still got the original.
