I'm not really sure what else to write. Default install on a X8 machine. Single NIC. Assign static IP and nothing. Exact same steps with 9.10.2 U4 work perfectly fine. 9.10.x seems to be A LOT faster as well. 9.10.2 boots up in about 8-9 seconds where 11.1 boots up in 5 or 6 minutes. Is v11 not ready for daily use?

OK so after 11 minutes the GUI finally loaded.... configured the basics... rebooted... took about 15 minutes for the GUI to become available. Rebooted again.... same thing.... why? Why does it take so much longer to boot this version and become available?

Please understand that statistics bear out that most issues are
are hardware based, so within the body of your posts please
include all your hardware information (including OS version).

Giving as much information as you can, from the start.
Are you using recommended hardware? These answers will help us to help you
without forum members having to ask too many questions.
For instance, what type of boot drive are you using and how is it connected
to the motherboard?

FreeNAS 11.x is the current STABLE version and should NOT be taking that long
to boot

Well I guess that's good it isn't expected.

FreeNAS-11.1-U5
Supermicro SC846E16
Supermicro X8DTH-6F
Single Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5630 @ 2.13GHz
Memory 24529MB
Samsung 830 64GB SSD on port 23 of the BPN-SAS2-846EL1

I tried FreeNAS-9.10.2-U4 again and it boots up in under 10 seconds (after BIOS and every loads).

Went back to FreeNAS-11.1-U5 and again.... 10+ minutes.

I don't think I need anything in v11. I may just stick with v9.

I can tell you that it's been my experience that booting from a drive that's connected to the backplane is
slow as hell. If you have an add on card acting as an HBA to the SAS2 backplane, that card has to go through it's own boot options to find the SSD on the backplane, before it can next find the OS boot files.
Granted how many times do you boot FreeNAS, right?
My recommendation is to place your SSD on the first (SATA0) port of the motherboard and do away with attaching it to the backplane. If this is done, you can then do away with the HBA's ROM files and everything will boot as fast as your 3GB/s motherboard and your SSD interface speeds will allow.
