I used the Startech splitter cyberjock recommended. It works well, but I had to run it from top to bottom. This is fine for a power supply mounted in the top of your case, but looks a little untidy for a bottom mounted PSU. Also the connectors are close to one another. Fine for installing drives into a Fractal Design Midi, but I had to remove it completely to remove a drive.

I just bought the Fractal Define Mini for that reason...

I realized this yesterday and changed my case choice to "Fractal Design Arc Midi" for about $50. Mini costs about $50 more. Both are good choice I think.

I have the same Fractal Design case: It's very quiet but a little "offset" (can't explain this in English) when you need to fit - for example - an HBA controller like the IBM M1015: it results in a misalignment of the PCI slot with the hole in the back of the case.
Do you have a similar problem?

For the definitive NAS I'm going to purchase a "professional" case like a Supermicro or a Chenbro. My only concern about this last solution is noise!

Try loosening your motherboard and readjusting it. Before you tighten it down there is a little bit of adjustment room that you can play with to get the spacing right for expansion cards.

I don't use any HBA controller so I won't be able to give you a proper answer. Overall, I like the case very much.

Noise is definitely a problem for the high density cases in home builds.
