Hi,
I have started building my own NAS following the recommendations on this forum and went for :
Supermicro X9SCM-F Sockel 1155 M-ATX
Intel Pentium G2020 Boxed
be quiet! Pure Power L8 300 Watt
Seagate ST4000VN000 NAS HDD 4TB
BitFenix Phenom M micro-ATX weiß
But now I just need Unbuffered ECC RAM but I'm having trouble deciding. Do I take 1333 MHz or 1600 MHz RAM? And which exactly?
My CPU will only communicate with the RAM at 1333 MHz. And in the specs of the Motherboard there is written:
"*** BIOS rev. 2.0 or above is needed to support new E3-1200 v2 CPUs, which supports PCI-E 3.0 & DDR3 1600"
So should I go for RAM at 1600? It seems useless unless if I would upgrade my cpu in the future. But then I would still need to update the bios to rev. 2... Do I have to put in 1333 RAM first to update the bios, and afterwards 1600 RAM?
So if I would go for 1333 MHz RAM, can anyone share their experience with this motherboard and ram compatibility? Because the list of tested memory is rather short. Will these work?
Best regards
