Hi – I recently completed my FreeNAS server build – thanks to this forum for all the help.
I have successfully installed FreeNAS (9.1.1), and setup volumes, datasets, users and permissions. I am however having issues with email setup. I have read every post related to email issues, but no luck so far. Setup seems straight forward – so here it goes:
For what it’s worth, I also tried this with my gmail account, and using the gmail outgoing server, but no luck.
Thanks in advance.
I have successfully installed FreeNAS (9.1.1), and setup volumes, datasets, users and permissions. I am however having issues with email setup. I have read every post related to email issues, but no luck so far. Setup seems straight forward – so here it goes:
- I setup the email address in “root” account under users.
- I setup the Network Setting (Global Configuration)
- a. Hostname: freenas
- b. Domain: local
- c. IPV4 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (this is my router’s default address)
- d. Nameserver1: 192.168.1.1
- I setup the email under Settings/Email tab as follows:
- a. From email: root@freenas.local
- b. Outgoing mail server (I use Comcast): Smtp.comcast.net
- c. Port: 465 (I tried 587 and 25 as well – same issues)
- d. SSL and SMTP authentication checked (I also tried with TLS – but no luck)
- e. Username: xxx@comcast.net (my Comcast email account)
- f. Password: xxxxxx (my Comcast password)
For what it’s worth, I also tried this with my gmail account, and using the gmail outgoing server, but no luck.
Thanks in advance.
