I am trying to setup the email, and I keep getting this error:

Your test email could not be sent: [Errno 65] No route to host

The setting are:
From email: root@freenas.local
Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
Port to connect to: 465
TLS / SSL: TLS
Use SMTP Authentication: yes
Username: myname@gmail.com
Password: gmail passoword

I have tried a few variations of the above and no changes.

Thanks - I had searched and found that very post - and did what it said about setting up the configuration with my google account, and no luck.

Did you add your email address to the root user account?

Yes - the root shows the proper email. And after a reboot, I tried to send a test email and now the error is:

Your test email could not be sent: Connection unexpectedly closed: timed out

You need port 587 for gmail tls.
