Hi, im completly new to truenas (scale) and just building my first system.

I moved from a raspberry pi4 with 1x usb wd red 8tb and 1x usb 10tb (nightly rsync) to this build:

  • Supermicro X11SCH-LN4F
  • i3 9100
  • 1x16GB ECC Kingston 2666 running at 2400
  • 2x120GB ADATA mirrored boot pool, 2x250/500 GB NVME mirrored app/vm pool, 2x8TB mirrored WD Red Plus vault
  • onboard sata
  • onboard lan (port 1)
I've installed TrueNas Scale 22.12.3.1, created my app nvme pool and data vault, set up users and created an SMB share.

I rsynced some of my data from my raspi4 to truenas scale.

While doing this, my system crashed. Several times.

I tried to copy the files 2 times and 2 times my system froze. Once at idle

At idle, at 300GB and at about 3TB of data.

IPMI health log:

Processor --> CATERR has orrcurred - Assertion

The VGA output looks like this:

The output looks scuffed, but this is all I`ve got.

Are there any error logs in Truenas?

Maybe I have a bad CPU?

Thanks for your help.

Doesn't look good according to this:

you may need to work with them if you really want to test it, but you can see the outcome for somebody else who had the exact same error as you list above.
Thank you for your input. I was afraid of this.

I'm replacing my CPU. Will the Turbo Boost of the 9100 give me a noticeable advantage over the i3 8100 without Turbo Boost?

Best regards

Depends on workload. Normally workloads like SMB can bebefit from higher single core speeds, so it could be interesting if CPU was going to be your bottleneck on SMB, for example.
