I just posted in the wrong catagory so here is the fixed one.

Hi. I am trying to install TrueNAS Core on my recent build with the ASRock B560M-ITX/ac motherboard, which has Intel I219V as the onboard NIC. However TrueNAS didn't detect the onboard NIC. According to Intel's website, this NIC requires the em driver.

I am not considering getting a new NIC because I am running out of PCI-E slots on my motherboard. Running pciconf -lv shows a none6 for ethernet.

According to this. It's apperantly fixed in the FreeNAS days. But I am on TrueNAS Core 12.0-U4. It should work out of the box.

Any idea?

According to this FreeBSD commit some new PCI IDs have been added to the driver - your NIC might be on the list. This is in FreeBSD -CURRENT.

That means I have to wait for a while?
That would be my guess since TrueNAS 12.0-U4.1 is based on FreeBSD 12.2 (uname) - unless you can compile the driver with the right PCI ID yourself and import into your system. Have seen people do it with Realtek drivers, but haven't had the need to do it myself.

Depending on what features you want to use of TrueNAS another option might be taking a look at TrueNAS SCALE (which is in BETA now, so not the finished product yet), where the driver might be included already.
